GORDON DEAN McCORMACK, II
JUNE 7, 1955

First Grade
Gordon Dean McCormack, II was born in Pana, IL on June 7, 1955 to Janice Agnew Matthews and Gordon Dean McCormack. Unlike his sister, Vicki, who weighed six pounds and five ounces and was twenty-one inches long and skinny as a rail, Gordon weighed eight pounds and nine ounces, was only nineteen inches long, and looked like he was three months old when he was born.
Vicki was only a bit over two years old when he was born but it was then she became, as she thought of herself, the 'other mother'. In the end, having four younger brothers, Dutch the oldest, (next Scott, then Mike and lastly, Doug) she loved telling them what they could and couldn't do; and got by with for a long, long time.
We never called him Gordon - he became Dutch before he was a month old. The name Gordon meant his dad. But his dad was also called Gordon, Dean, and Mack by various members of the family; so what were we going to call this new boy? so we had to come up with a nickname for little Gordon. Mack’s favorite teacher’s nickname was Dutch, so baby Gordon became Dutch. And there could never be a nickname that fit any better. To this day, many of the people who have known him for years don't know his name is Gordon. He is Dutch!
Dutch led the way for his three brothers; all four were in the Navy.

The pictures are, from left to right: Jan and Dutch visiting in Kemah, 2008 (also middle picture); the T-Bucket he built - from scratch, well, maybe I should say from a kit; Dutch in his hippie days; the home they bought in Independence, MO in 2007; a US Navy picture (where he looks a lot like his uncle Floyd); Dutch with his nearly finished T-bucket; Dutch and Mike aboard my boat in Nashville, TN in the Cumberland River; and Dutch and Jan's wedding picture.
The "children" at Dutch and Jan's home. Top row, left to right, are the three cats, Festus, Caesar, and Foxy. Middle is the newest addition to the family, Auntie Em, a Cairn Terrier, and Caesar, a Manx. Second Row is Caesar again, middle he is holding his "baby" in his mouth. Next row is Foxy, a Cornish Rex, Middle Festus and Foxy watching Em eat their food and to the right is Molly, a Coon Hound that Dutch had years ago. Last row is Oscar, a Finch; then Festus, the Maine Coon and Foxy.
NEW ADDITION TO THE DUTCH AND JAN FAMILY TREE

The new addition to the family is a Cairn Terrier named Emmy (after the one in the Wizzard of Oz). Em and her proud parents on puppy obedience school on graduation day. The three 'cat' children are older now but have accepted the pup as a sibling. They are fun to watch and play with. She will be going to 'advanced' obedience school soon. No such thing as "too much Education"!
EMMY HAS A BROTHER - MILO

A brand new 'child' came to Jan and Dutch, another Cairn Terrior, a brother for Emmy, who is now a little over a year old. As with Emmy, Milo took to the cats, Festus, Foxy and Caesar pretty much the same way Emmy did. Because they had to. After all, they are brothers and sisters. He, like his sister will attend obedience school.
